AB ’64
<\/strong>U.S. TV show. Jan-4-64.  For this first show of 1964, AB looks back at the highlights of 1963.  Little did they know that in one month the Beatles would invade America and change everything!  The boys are still sporting 50s-styled DA haircuts.  Dick interviews the kids and asks which were their favorites of 1963.<\/p>\n

In person performances: Steve Wahrer (singer & drummer of The Trashmen) performs the still popular, “Surfin’ Bird” and is interviewed.  Shirley Ellis performs, “The Nitty Gritty” and gives a nervous interview.<\/p>\n

The number one record is: Dusty Springfield: “Wishin’ & Hopin'”. Dick references the Kennedy assassination.  With original commercials including a promo for ABC’s “Hootenanny” TV show that will soon be replaced by “Shindig!”.<\/p>\n

KAREN 1964
<\/strong>U.S. TV show.  Episode 9: “Teacher’s Romance” Dec-17-64.  Karen was a short-lived TV sitcom focused on high school girl “Karen”.  The opening theme was performed by the Beach Boys.  In this episode Karen thinks her teacher has a crush on her.  The kids use teenage lingo like: “digs”, “corny”, “go ape” and “neato!”.  Debbie Watson, Richard Denning, Mary LaRoche, Gina Gillespie.<\/p>\n
