Buddy Holly – The Music Never Died – A Rock & Roll Revelation

This title was originally officially released in North America, but has now been long out of print.  It is available at ridiculously high collector’s prices from some retailers.  However, we are pleased that we are now able to offer this import version at a reasonable price. 

Of all the pioneers who helped cultivate the roots of rock & roll music, few – if any – had brought so much to the cause in such an incredibly short period of time as the late Buddy Holly.  Yet unlike Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Little Richard or any of the others who, for the most part, have been well represented over the years on both records and CDs as well as on home video, very little has been made available where Buddy Holly’s contributions are concerned.  With many of his rarities once obtainable on vinyl but never on CD, and nothing new culled from the vaults for over 20 years, the time is long overdue for fans of this musical legend to get what they truly deserve.  And this collection promises to do just that, with a 41-track CD containing well over an hour’s worth of previously unreleased material by Holly including his earliest known recording, alternate versions, spoken-word radio promos, jingles, incredible interviews, guest appearances with other artists (including several never-heard Waylon Jennings songs) and, finally, his most sought-after recording ever: the infamous “Decca Records Phone Call”.  Also included is a DVD featuring Holly and The Crickets’ never-before-available complete performance of “Oh, Boy!” from their second appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, plus other video rarities.

Audio & Video Quality:
CD:  The quality of this CD varies from acceptable to very good.  Several of the tracks are very early recordings from Buddy Holly’s country roots and are taken from the original acetates and include clicks and pops from the original vinyl records.
DVD:  The DVD is in reasonably good quality, just a nudge below good quality, about a 7.75 using our website Quality Rating Table.
