Frank Zappa’s Video From Hell is a must see for Zappa fans, released in 1987. It has clips from
some of his other movies like “200 Motels” and “Uncle Meat” and other series of projects that
Zappa presumably planned to finish and release for home video. However, those projects were
ultimately never completed. Many pieces from this video had appeared on a one-hour “Night
Flight” special entitled “You Are What You Watch”. The music video for the song “G-Spot
Tornado” features color 8mm footage that he shot at a county fair in the early 1960’s, while the
music video for “Night School” features footage from the making of his feature film 200 Motels.
It also features the music video for “You Are What You Watch” which was banned by MTY.
Zappa’s humor is seen throughout the movie which is seen at it’s best during the Baltimore,
Maryland obscenity in music trials. He really makes them look li8ke idiots. And no Zappa is
complete without a kick-ass guitar solo, with him and Steve Vai battling it out on stage in an
unbelievable performance. This visuals in this movie are great. A total trippers movie!!
