John Lennon – Remembered 1940-1980:

From Back Cover

John Lennon – Remembered, U.S. TV show, 1985
Wolfman Jack hosts a look back at John Lennon’s life through rare interviews with those who knew John
well.  Some very interesting comments and viewpoints not seen in other Beatles-related documentaries.
Paul McCartney talks about writing songs with John, his rage when he learned of John’s murder and he
gives his opinion on the then-current music scene.  Paul gives specific examples of “innovative” Beatle
ideas that were actually taken from others.

Headmaster of Quarry Bank School, William Pobjoy gives his accounts of the many times that John was
sent to his office and his conversations with John and Aunt Mimi.  Alan Williams tells revealing stories
about groupies and the Beatles at the Jacaranda Club and the violent nature of Liverpool and Hamburg.

Bob Wooler talks about Brian Epstein, the Cavern Club and gives insight into John’s “sick” sense of
humour.  Bob also discusses getting beaten up by John in the early days and the sexual impact of the
Beatles and John’s stance on stage.  George Harrison talks about John’s tough personality and him
being an orphan.  He talks about drugs in Hamburg and the scene in general.

George Martin talks about John and Cynthia’s relationship and how they were not really suited to each
other and Yoko’s influence in the studio and John’s drug taking.  May Pang talks about the John and
Harry Nilsson “incident” at the Troubadour and the things John Lennon liked to do when he wasn’t being
“John Lennon”.

Julian Lennon talks about his relationship — or lack of — with his father and his feelings towards Yoko.
He also discusses what he went through in the days after he found out about John’s murder.

NOTE:  The quality of the above title, while still very enjoyable, is a little below our usual quality standards;
there is about a minute of slightly distorted video during George Martin’s interview.

PLUS THESE BONUS SELECTIONS:

The Murder Of John Lennon, U.S. Documentary
A look at John’s early life and how his childhood experiences shaped his personality and how his life
developed through the years.  Then the same is done for Mark Chapman with comparisons and contrasts
to John’s life.  You may say why do I care about this sick piece of $#!t — but hearing the actual voice of
Chapman describing his motives and John’s effect on his life;  you do come away with an understanding
of how madness develops and overtakes a mind.

Mike McCartney’s Alternative Liverpool, U.K. Documentary (1989)
Mike McCartney, Paul’s younger brother (known in the 60s as Mike McGear, member of the group the
Scaffold), takes you on a low-fidelity, hand-hel camera tour of Liverpool and describes scenes that
happened back in the day.  Footage and stories about Mathew Street, Penny Lane, Liverpool Institute
Art College, etc. and interviews with Adrian Henri, Ivan Vaughn and others.
