The film skip’s Meek’s childhood and instead takes us from the beginning of his parternship with songwriter Geoff Goddard (Tom Burke) in 1961. The story follows his to the peak of his success, his fortunes declining, some bad luck, depression and paranoia forced him into murder and bizarrea circumstances surrounding his suicide in 1967.
