Where The Action Is – Volume 01
Great collection of original 1960’s rock and roll TV performances.
“Where The Action Is” was created and produced by Dick Clark and aired on ABC, debuting on June 28, 1965 and ran through to March 31, 1967. It had a catchy theme song which actually hit the charts performed by Freddy Cannecause of the difficulties of the time in obtaining high quality sound on location, lip synching was sued on the show extensively. For a lot of years because Mike Nesmith of the Monkees started MTV, the thought was the Monkees TV series created the first original rock video. “Where The Action Is” actually did some rock video type format stuff before the Monkees premiere. This was Dick Clark’s first move beyond American Bandstand and never really got that popular, but it did give Dick a new outlet for presenting music besides Bandstand.
