The Bob Hope Special 1969
U.S. TV show. Mar-19-69. Excellent quality. 4:3 aspect ratio. Color. Cyd Charisse, Ray Charles, Jimmy Durante, Nancy Sinatra, Les Brown and his Band of Renown. Bob Hope looks at Jimmy Durante and says, “Is that your nose or your face holding a freak-out?”.
Ray Charles does a joke routine with Bob Hope and then performs, “The Bright Lights & You Girl”. Nancy Sinatra sits in the Lotus position while singing: “God Knows I Love You”. She performs “Gun Sligner” with Hope.
Special note: Really cool Dodge “musicle car” commercials with a mod and secret agent vibe. A groovy skit features a longhaired and mod-looking Bob Hope. While Bob examines Jimmy Durante’s physical appearance, he delivers the line: “I’ve seen more likely candidates on a John Lennon album cover”. This is a reference to the Two Virgins LP and a knock on Yoko’s looks.
