Rolling Stones – In The Park (NTSC BLU-RAY)

$22.00

The Rolling Stones live in Hyde Park, July 5th, 1969.

The Rolling Stones have been the quintessential bar band for their entire career.  Only July 5th, 1969 the Stones put on a free concert in London’s Hyde Park just two days after bandmate Brian Jones died and the very first live performance with the Stones by Jones’ replacement Mick Taylor.  This concert was an important one for the Stones.  They had not performed live to the general public since 1967 and had only given sporadic concerts since that time.  Mick Jagger was eager to return to live performing as he helt that was where the band’s strengths were as opposed to studio recording.  The stones decided to dedicate their performance to Brian.  As an overture to the show, Jagger quoted from Percy Bysshe Shelley’s famous poem to Keets death, “Adonais”.  When asked why the festival would be free, Jagger noted that they had not made much money from previous concert tours anyway.
