George Harrison – Live At Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, Canada (December-6-1974)

We are particularly pleased to offer this CD title of the Toronto concert of George Harrison’s Dark Horse tour in 1974.  Many of our customers know that we do not generally like audience recordings, audio and video of concerts.  They frequently are in poor to fair quality.  This is especially true of 1960’s to 1990’s recordings, usually recorded on a poor quality cassette deck with atrocious built-in microphones.

This audio recording is an extremely pleasant exception, with this version NEVER having been made available previously. We have sourced this title from the original taper who has kept it in his personal vaults for 50 years.  It was recorded by the audience member with a professional Uher Report S-4000 portable reel-to-reel tape recorder and a high quality Shure Unidyne microphone about 100 feet from the main speakers.

Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto where this concert was held was a notorious echo chamber. There is NO echo at all in this recording with crystal clear voices and instrumentation AND is not drowned out by audience applause.  We have listened to many audience recordings from the 1970’s and this one is the absolute best one that we have ever heard. We highly recommend this title for George Harrison fans.

This recording IS the complete performance by George Harrison and his guests Billy Preston and Tom Scott & The L.A. Express.  It does not include the Hare Krishna group doing East Indian songs.
