Happening ’68 was a rock music TV show that aired on Saturday afternoons. The show’s hosts were Mark Lindsay and Paul Revere. Happening ’68 featured guest artists lip-synching their latest hits.
One regular feature was a garage band contest with celebrity judges. The show featured music, interviews and topics of interest to teenagers. In 1969 the show changed its name to Happening.

The Dells were supposed to appear today but they got stuck at the airport so the kids in the audience do a “freak out” while the Dells’ record “I Hear Voices” plays. Visiting DJs: Ron Reilly from Chicago’s WLS and King Kirby from Cleveland’s WIXY.
Amateur rock and roll garage band contest features from Boise, ID: The Buster Brown Rhythm and Blues Band and from Shreveport, LA: The Bare Facts. Also cool fashions from the Style Faire. The judges for the band contest are musician Jackie DeShannon, former Dennis the Menace and start of the current TV show “Maya”, Jay North and singer Tommy Roe.

The first of four “Happening ’68” TV specials that aired during the fall of 1968.

Happening Season 2 Episode 15. Mar. 15th, 1969
St. Patrick’s Day episode.
Paul Revere and Mark Lindsay talk about the need for lowering the voting age. We hear Richard Nixon’s voice and then Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart are introduced and perform their song “L.U.V. (Let Us Vote).
Happening News segment with Sue Cameron who tells us that a Monkees TV special will air in April. Also Sonny and Cher will appear in a feature length cartoon that will be like an American version of Yellow Submarine called, “The Princess and the Frog”.
Tommy Roe performs “Dizzy”.
Amateur rock and roll garage band contest features from Maquoketa IA, The Guys Who Came Up from Downstairs and from Salinas, CA, The New Miracles. The judges for the band contest are Dennis Cole, Merille Rush, and Tommy Roe. Mark Lindsay interviews Ross Martin star of the TV show, “Wild Wild West”.

Happening News segment with Sue Cameron who tells us that the Beach Boys have signed their mothers to a recording contract and they’ll record as “The Beach Mothers”. Dave Clark is dating his press agent. Includes original commercials.
